Hi, I know this might be a repetitive subject because there are lots of topics with the same subject but none of them could have been able to solve my problem. I've read lots of topics about this even on this particular site, but my problem still exists, I have a MicroSD memory which I cannot format neither by the phone nor the PC and neither from Windows Explorer nor Windows Disk Management. I cannot either delete the partition to solve the problem, I have a few private data on it which I need to remove. May someone help me at least remove those folders? Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately sometimes when a flash drive or a memory card starts to fail it could go in such a state and be lock itself up. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news though. Hopefully it turns out to be a fixable issue. However, if you can't get it to work, I'd suggest that you RMA it if it's still under warranty.

Good luck!
Hey there, honeyxp.

Is the flash drive appearing as write protected? If so, it's normal for you not to be able to delete data or reformat it. Here's how to remove the write protection: http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Write-Protection.

You could also try formatting the card by using its manufacturer's formatting tool, to see if that will be able to solve the issue.

Hope that helps.

You can't format a drive from inside windows...you'll need to try and do that before windows loads.

If you do not have a drive, then you will not be able to install windows...and data format it'll leave you up a creek, sans paddle.

There is not approach around that, you would like a drive if you're format a drive with the intention of reinstalling windows. If you have got another system with a drive on that, you may borrow that drive and plug it into your system.

You will want a program to format the system from the boot. If you're doing a clean install, from a blank drive, and you do not care regarding losing everything, use DBAN (www.dban.org) from the boot menu. it'll wipe everything from the drive. Then you'll be able to install windows.

Again, though....you need as well into DBAN or no matter formatting program you employ (you will truly use the one on the Windows Installation, it's going to do the trick if you would like it to...just load the Windows disk and continue as though you were installing it on a blank drive).

Hi @Promomilia. I think you might have missed the point here. From what I understand, @honeyxp is trying to reformat an SD card and not his/her OS drive. The instructions you've given will basically nuke the main drive, thus resulting in losing everything on the HDD, so they shouldn't be followed in this scenario. :)

I'll give the link a try to see whether it can help. I've read on so many sites that they refer this problem to a physical switch or button for write-protecting. But my memory doesn't have such a button! But yes, Windows says it's write-protected and I am wondering if this problem is related to kinda a malware or virus. But i'll try the instructions in the link above to see whether it works. Thanks
