Thanks for the above discussion. My situation is slightly different but I can add some additional info that may help some users with this question. Let me explain. Please note, this does NOT solve the bandwidth problem of the initiator of the thread. You had better have a broadband setup to download these files.

I have an old Macbook Pro vintage late 2008. Dual core Intel 2.4 GHz processor, 200GB HDD and 4GB memory I have been running Win 7 Home on it via Parallels. After all these years, I wanted to bring it up to date. So I deleted the Windows VM, updated to El Capitan (YES as old as it is, it does run well with that OS!!!) and got a new version of Parallels and am going to re-install by previous licensed copy of Win7H. I have already wiped all free disc space with CC Cleaner. My problem is that with only 4 gb of total memory, I couldn't use more than 1.5gb of memory for my windows VM. The FULL windows update halts because of "not enough memory". I found this link while searching for a work-around for my problem, looking for a way to do fractional or partial windows updates.

So, I look to find a way to download the windows updates in toto, save them to disk, and install them AS I CHOOSE IN CHRONOLOGIC ORDER. I do this because the machine is running great and the new MBP's cost you hour home, marriage and first born child to buy :-(!

Then, I searched for "how to download and save windows update files". And found this link: www.windowsupatesdownloader.com

This is an Italian developer site and they provide other software including "ZIPRAR" and "WMP11 Integrater". Currently (2017-02-21), 2 versions of "Windowsudatesdownloader"are listed for downloads, v 2.4 which has had 455K downloads, and v 2.5. which has had 1.2 million downloads. I have searched for reviews, comments etc. and have not found any - positive or negative. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, but I'm assuming that it is good. The software is free.

It sounds like this program will do the selected (any or all?) downloads in a single large download and let the user install them as they choose. In other words, they can apparently be batch installed chronologically, which is what I am interested in. Note that there are over 206 updates as of this date for Win7H !!!

I will give that a try and report back to update this post with results of the process. Also, once I have the Mac set up as I want it, I plan to swap the old HDD for an SSD and upgrade to 6 GB of memory, my max limit for this old war horse. Saves a LOT of MONEY!

If you are replying to a thread, you need to reply inside that thread. If you are talking about offline patches, there are several utilities.

The one I have used a few times is WSUS Offline Update.
