SSD not detected in BIOS

Hello all,
Yesterday I turned on my pc and it would start on a black screen saying that there was no bootable drive. So I opened the bios and noticed that the SSD on which the OS was installed on, was not even listed there. I should mention I have three drives: 1 SSD 500gb (OS) 2 HD 1TB 3 SSD 120GB. All other drives were listed.
I bought a SSD USB adaptor and it would still not recognise the disk, so I found online various solutions, and as I had tried to change cables and SATA ports, the only one left was to leave the SSD connected to the power only for 30 minutes and then boot it up with the SATA as well, which surprisingly worked and the SSD has been working ever since.
Before I buy a new disk, I wanted to ask, is this normal, or is it a clear sign that the SSD is failing?

Thanks for your attention

It's not a clear sign of anything but it'd scare me to the point of duplicating all data on the SSD onto the hard drives and keep a USB or disc copy of Windows handy just in case. No need to rush out and buy one immediately, but I'd want everything but the new drive nearby

Hi Supahos, thanks for replying. This is exactly what I did. Created a backup with Widnows image with WIndows Backup and also backed up the file history via the Win 10 tool. However, what I cannot understand is, how is this possible? What caused my SSD to fail and to work again only by keeping it powered without Sata connection. I could try to RMA it, but, I don't think people at Samsung will believe my story and consider it good enough for a replacement.

Thank you in any case for the advice, and if you have any better option than windows backup, I am all hears.

The Samsung Magician software, even the new stripped down version reads SMART attributes. You can also use a 3rd party program like SpeedFan.

No guarantees that any problems will be reported but it's worth checking. If there are any glaring errors then you would have something to base an RMA on.
