I got a good deal on a Lenovo 300-20ISH Micro ATX with the following specs:
i7 6700 non k
12 GB DDR4 2133 1x4 & 1x8

I paid $400 bucks for this fully functional desktop but on Heaven benchmark with the IGP Intel HD 530 graphics the best scores I get are around 29 FPS and a approx score of 750. This is slightly lower performance than my i5 2320 and GeForce 730 2GB DDR5 and 8GB DDR3 dual channel 2x4.

I'm assuming the reason why my Lenovo is underperforming is because the integrated graphics and proprietary 180w PSU with proprietary Lenovo 10 pin motherboard connection. I'm thinking $400 is a good deal for the i7 6700 and the 12GB DR4 ram alone so would you agree I should keep my Lenovo just to use the CPU and RAM in a new custom build with the SSD from my i5 setup? If yes could you recommend a mobo, psu, and gpu if my primary use is video editing? THANKS!

Solution
I recommend the GTX 1070 because:

1) NVidia GPU's seem to be better supported than AMD GPU's.
2) Having the 8GB of VRAM is very beneficial
3) It provides significant performance for a reasonable price. I did not feel that you wanted spend the money on a GTX 1080.

I would just return the system if you can for a refund, Ryzen was released today. And it looks like Intel will be taking a smackdown. I just received an email alert from my local online vendor here in Canada and pre-orders are being taken for 02-Mar-17 pickup.

Not sure what RAM it is but it is likely Lenovo brand. I suspect that it will be similar to suspect something like ValueRam by Kingston. You have about $383 dollars new in the CPU and RAM.

So I would go with this for mobo, PSU and GPU. Caveat, I normally would not suggest anything less than 16GB of RAM for video editing. The 1070 will work well for editing.

Thank you so much for all the research you did and for your recommendations imsqam! I hope you don't mind a couple quick follow up questions. First of all I really like all the components you recommended. I should have mentioned I would have liked to spend less than $500 but I know the components you listed are worth the price. My first question is just confirming that you recommended the GTX 1070 for video editing because of it's high end clock speed and 8GB of ram correct?

Secondly, with AMDs new processors just around the corner now and the fact that you help me realized that I can buy the individual components that I was going to salvage for less than what I paid for this whole system, should I return it for a refund and wait a couple months to see if market prices drop with the new AMDs out in the market?

Thank you again so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it!!!
