problems attaching cpu cooler

The pump on my water cooling system broke so i got a new noctua nh-u8dx i4 to cooler my processor. The problem is that it doesn't fit on my gigabyte ga-z87-hd3. The coolers screws are just too large for the holes in the motherboard

The nh u9dx i4 has a different socket to m ga-h87-hd3. the cooler is compatible with a LGA1366 socket whilst the motherboard has a LGA1150 socket

I just thought in this day and age that all coolers would be compatable with all motherboards
