Im thinking of buying an i3 6100, for gaming, my sister has it and it runs all the games i would want it to, now i have already bought 16gb DDR4 and an MSI H110M mobo, do i wait for Ryzen and refund the mobo? or just get intel?

thanks,

Information released today shows the cheapest Ryzen at launch will be $329.

For a budget build for the foreseeable future the answer is Intel.

Ryzen is literally being released for pre-order in 1 hour. While the lower end processors aren't available at launch, they will be shortly. It would be crazy to buy an Intel build right now till you see what happens here. Everything points to the Ryzen R3 being better and cheaper than the i3.

It really depends on how much of a powerhouse cpu you want.... You can definitely keep the 16 GB of DDR4.

The current Ryzen CPUs on pre-order if you go for the $399+ ones are all on par / better than the i7 6800 / 6900

For instance the Ryzen 7 1700X is 3.4 ghz that boosts up to 3.8 ghz and is $399 in comparison the i7 6900 which is almost 1,100 bucks can only boost up to 3.8 ghz

You also want to figure in the cost of the AMD motherboards that will work with the Ryzen, I saw the Asus Crosshair VI Hero mobo on pre-order for almost $300...

So long story short if you are on a tight budget then you might want to stick with intel since you already have the mobo and ram... If you want a little more bang for your buck then I personally think that Ryzen is worth it.
