I've got a i5 2500k paired with a radeon 6950.
It's currently hiccupping regularly on Ark SE with medium settings. In addition the game is beautiful but when I see youtubers screens it makes me envious how much clear their images are. Less pixelated.
I'm debating upgrading just to a 1050 or 1060 in the current rig, vs upgrading completely to a new i7. pricing on Ibuypower or cyberpowerpc suggest 1300 for a full PC with a 1060 or 1900 for a PC with a 1070. Obviously putting one of these beauties in my existing machine with a 2500 seems like a tragedy but the $240 upgrade is obviously more frugal. If the bottleneck is too ridiculous though I won't do it.
