In my setup i use two displays, one 144Hz for gaming and one 60Hz as a secondary screen. Msi Afterburner says my gtx 970 is running at 135MHz at 60Hz on both monitors. If i got one of the monitors at 144Hz and the other at 60Hz the gpu is running at 899MHz witch is undesierd. When i play games i want to use 144Hz. 2)Is there a way to automate the computer to switch between 60 and 144Hz automaticaly when i go into games?

Sorry for using a lot of "technical terms"

2)they all run at 135MHz exept 144Hz. Can someone explain to me why this is?

Solution
It's just the way it is with nvidia cards (used to be that dual screens would do the same), 120hz is fine 144 requires a higher power state.

Personally I lock mine to 120 in windows.
