Going to develop (hack, prototype) VR games, as well as play them. Aiming for high-spec, upgrade-friendly system:
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LED 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX
Wireless Network Adapter: Asus PCE-AC68 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter
Some points:
- 7700 rather than 7600 in belief that more-threads-matter ... eventually ... yay or nay?
- 850W to support upgrade to 2 GPUs ... and beyond!
- 2-GPUs-and-beyond ... is the Noctua U12 going to do the job?
- MSI: yes 'Asus Asus Asus' I hear .... but really? For the Z270 chipset mobos??
- Pro Carbon or M5/M7? Not sure the extra bells and whistles add value ... educate me?
- 2x16GB to allow for future 4x16GB ...
Thoughts? Thanks!
