I'm looking to get the 1700x but I am on a budget so i'd like to know if i can keep the current X61 Kraken I have now and put it on the 1700x or if I have to buy another Cooler for it ? If I do have to buy another, what are my options? please and thank you for your response, anything helps :)

the Kraken x61 is compatible with the most current AM3+ socket, but I think it's yet to be determined if it will be compatible with the AM4 that Ryzen uses. I'd bet that it will be compatible though, seeing how their support goes all the way back to AMD FM1. That's just a guess though and it's assuming you still have the mounting brackets for an AMD board.

ryzen i believe has a new mounting pattern as i recall seeing a $7.99 adapter for sale for i dont remember what brand. you should expect any mid/high end cooler manufacture to do the same. noctua, phanteks, nzxt.... if their stuff wont work out the box, there will be a cheap kit that you can buy. i believe noctua will send them out for free if i am not mistaken. so keep your x61 as it will work.
