I'm interested in getting a Thermaltake Core P5 Mid Tower ATX for my latest build and wondering what the community make of the case. And wondering what the pcie rizer is and whether it is a good thing. cheers

It looks like an interesting case so long as it appeals in terms of aesthetics. Something to keep in mind, abnormal case design could be limiting (make sure to take note of drive mounting options), specialty pieces that should anything go wrong hopefully Thermaltake will offer replacements for. The more you depart from 'standard' the less options for replacement pieces.

The riser is a way to show off the gpu. Instead of looking at the edge and possible part of the cooling fins or fan shroud you can mount the gpu on its' edge so that the 'pretty' side shows and you can see the colored shroud and fan(s) through the window. In some cases a riser is used to help fit something like a gpu into a thin case that would otherwise be too narrow...

In some cases a riser is used to help fit something like a gpu into a thin case that would otherwise be too narrow to support a gpu plugged directly into the pcie slot. This doesn't appear to be the reason in the case of the P5, it's for show.

Be aware that with so much exposed everything is going to show. It could look really nice with sleeved cables properly routed around, use of cable combs etc. If you have cables out of place it's going to show. All dust is going to show. If you plan to mount it to a wall like a flat panel tv consider the various cables that will be hanging from it. It may look sleek all by itself in a photo, consider with a psu power cable, dvi cable for the monitor, mouse cable, keyboard cable and so on hanging off the back of it to the side of the window.

I'm not suggesting it's a bad case, just some things to consider. If it ticks off all the things you want in a case and you have a plan to integrate a system into the case with color coordinated cables and things, it may be a great case for you.
