Hello,

I am asking a really stupid question and I already know that it probably doesen`t work but I have a Asus N750Jk laptop and the screen broke, Now I am thinking that I want a monitor. Probably something like Benq Xl411z 144Hz but it wont run :p, atleast I am pretty sure of it. Maybe a game like csgo?

Specs

Intel Core i7 (4th Gen) 4700HQ / 2.4 GHz

INVIDIA® GeForce® GTX850M with 2GB/4GB DDR3

Just checked your laptops I/O, and according to the ASUS specs it only has a Mini Display port and HDMI 1.2 which does Not carry a 144HZ signal, so any monitor you connect is going to run at 60HZ.

Yes of course, you can run any monitor that you can connect to. The monitor will run fine at 144HZ as long as you have the correct connection for it, obviously you ain't going to be able to run many games at 144FPS, except maybe Minesweeper :)

If your laptop outputs via VGA or DVI-I then the monitor will not run at 144HZ, but more likely 60HZ.

Wait, I think you are getting confused.

Yes, the monitor will work perfectly fine at 1920x1080p running at 144HZ if connected via the Displayport on your laptop, whereas if you use the HDMI port it will still run at 1920x1080p, but at only 60HZ.

When gaming at 1920x1080, you just won't be able to run most big AAA or demanding games at anywhere close to 144fps, you will most likely have to drop in-game settings to very low/low to achieve a smooth 60+fps, unless the game has extremely low requirements. A GTX 850m is quite low performance for running games at high FPS, plus your CPU is quite under powered for high FPS as well.

Yes of course, but CS:GO is a 5 years old game that was easy to run then, now in 2017 it is Extremely easy to run, you don't even need a graphics card to run it, an iGPU can run it easily.

What I said was, you won't be able to play big "AAA titles" at 100+fps, games like BF1, Crysis 3, Assassin Creed titles, Watch Dogs 2, Dishonoured 2, The Division, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Fallout 4.... etc.
At 1080p, those types of games will destroy a 4700HQ and GTX850M, so if you play any big AAA games, you will either need to play at 30-60fps to make the game even look a half decent (medium settings maybe), or lower all settings to very low to even get close to 100fps.

Huh, Steam, Google and Wiki all say 5 years old (2012) so I'm confused.
Do you just mean, CS:GO might have only released in 2012, but all CS games are basically the same with different skins??
