I built a living room PC, bought a cheap brand GPU R9 370. This will often crash when playing Bilshock Infinite with max settings . It can't pass Unigine Heaven Benchmark, failed within about 5 minutes .(All crash will close the game/software and shows "windows 10 problem..........") The passmark shows this card is R9 270X .Can use MSIafterbuner to underclock it , to make it stable ? Or other thins to do ?

Even though the R9 370 came out in 2015 its performance is like that of Nvidia cards that came out in 2012. Being very similar to a GTX660 in performance. It basically means that if you try murder out games on the ultra settings you're not going to get as smooth a performance but given that Bioshock was out prior to that It should run well on this card. Have you still got warranty on the card? Perhaps there's a fault internally. Also use the drivers that come on the disc. With AMD I have always found that they run better than the ones you can get from the internet. The updated drivers just didn't work well with an RX480 build I did but when I used the disc it ran like a dream.

If you're in warranty still I would recommend sending it...

If you're in warranty still I would recommend sending it back and getting something like an RX480 or a GTX1060. I recently done a build with a GTX1050ti and that's an excellent little card for something like a living room build if you only want it to run at 1920 x 1080.

If that's not an option try the disc version of the drivers if you have them.

There can also be an issue with the system itself overheating. Though it's not very common. If you take a card with a custom cooler and put it in a small form factor case which doesn't have great ventilation you can get whats called GPU Throttling. This is just when the system doesn't exhaust the heat from the GPU out the back of the case and instead it swirls it around your system gradually heating your system up until it slows down the card to prevent it from overheating.

A lot of stock coolers have a rear exhaust system where the card will exhaust the heat out the back of the system but if you have a stock cooler this might not be doing that. I know this is a very rare occurrence but it's something to keep in mind and given that your card shows up as a 270X it could be the issue.

also make sure its a genuine R9 370 from AMD. I hope this helps in some way and good luck fixing your problem

As you said , i checked the case airflow ,find i installed the cpu cooler fan and back case fan the wrong opposite
direction ! I correct the cooler and the fan's direction , now it passed the Heaven Benchmark medium setting with a stable 60 ℃. It's 65 ℃ or higher sometimes 70 ℃ before. Thanks you for your very very useful infomation !

He is talking about the R9 though? I just googled up some benchmarks and it rated the R9 370 next to a GTX 660 (at least in frame rate anyways) which came out in 2012. Only reason I knew is cos I'm still rocking the ancient 690. an R9 270x would be better than an R7 270x. Please explain if I'm way off. Cheers =)
