ethernet port blown, is it the motherboard standoffs?

hi! everyone this is the third time this happened the ethernet port blew up. the 1st time it happened i bought a pcie network card and used it for a month or so and that too blew up it took the motherboard along with it when it happened the 2nd time and won't start so i bought a new motherboard and that seemed to fixed the issue and then i moved to some other place to live and since there isn't any isp provider i used the same isp after a year it happened again this time the only difference is there was fire on the port. i was searching the web what might be the cause i couldn't find any i posted here, sorry for the long post. Any ideas? is it the cable provided by the isp?

Same router? You'd have lots of other issues if it were standoffs. For reference every hole on the mobo requires a standoff and every standoff MUST be under a hole.

no router just the cable provided by the isp directly. i just watched a review by linus for the case that i own in the review he mentioned to remove that standoff if i was using a atx board which i did and i found that the standoff has no purpose to be there for the motherboard i thought it might be it i dont know.

well if you had a standoff under the mobo where there was no hole it could cause all sorts of problems, but I would expect them to be immediately and not after an extended period of time.

what could cause an ethernet port to blow up? there wasn't any lightning strikes when this all happened.

if the standoff was slowly wearing away at insulation on a higher voltage line, it could then bridge to a lower voltage line. Lightening could have been miles away.

No idea, but a standoff where there shouldn't be one is not good.
