Hey guys I'm thinking of putting a gaming PC together, which one do you guys think it's going to be better for mainly gaming and web browsing.

Yeah, it looks like there will be overclocking for all of the R7's. As for how well they overclock, what temperatures you'll get, what aftermarket cooling you will or won't need, and what motherboards are good for OC, I have 0 speculations. Those are things you simply won't know for a fact until these processors are actually released.

I want to see everyone's remarks and opinions are, for this week until the release of ryzen on March 2nd, thanks in advance.

I mean, if you want some wild speculation, I think the Ryzen 5 series are going to come out performing around the Haswell i5 level, and undercut Intel's prices by 10-20%. Not really that much we can say about it though considering how far we are from release. If you just want to see some opinions on the Ryzen lineup as a whole, there's a Ryzen megathread going on.

because it proves nothing, is a waste of everyone's time. Are you asking for opinions for a laugh, or to build a machine. For the latter, wait. For the former that's fine, but don't couch it as a build.

I've already started collecting components, I'm gonna keep using my gtx970 for a while, I ordered a captain 240 ex and evga 750w g3, I was probably going to order a mobo/ram/cpu in about 2 weeks.

I've been putting off building a new rig for myself since the announcement of am4.

Well if two weeks is your window, I think you'll be looking at Ryzen 7 vs i5 (or i7). If the early benchmarks are accurate, then I would say your best bet would be the lowest Ryzen 7. I honestly can't recommend it right now though cause there is absolutely no transparency in any benchmarks coming straight from AMD. Your best bet in terms of building a system, is to wait for 3rd party reviews of the Ryzen 7 lineup, and evaluate your options.

Can you OC the lowest R7?

I made up my mind now, I ordered g1 gaming6 because it was on sale and it also had a rebate $140 after rebate, was also looking at the gskill x2 8gb ddr4 3000 for 99 bucks for another 6 days, gonna wait for the 7640k, thanks for your replies!

Well, there's this. Usual grain of salt, of course, and it WAS using all 8 cores, but it took LN2 to get 5.2 out of a 1800X, according to this.

The z170/z270 boards wont fit the 7640k as that is a kabylake-x chip that is being targeted at socket 2066 according to the rumors. Socket 2066 will be a new socket so you'd need a new motherboard for it when it comes out.
