Hello all. I have a Sapphire 7970 3GB OC edition and its been a good card but I want to upgrade and im having a hard time on what to get. My 2 choices are Nvidia 970 4GB or MSI RX 470 8GB for the same price. I hear nothing but great about 970 but it is an older card and i dont want it to be outdated when the next line drops, that said also the MSI has an extra 4GB so would that make up any performance? Also I have

MSI 970 Gaming Mobo
16GB ddr3 Ripjawz 2133
AMD 8350 8 core
750 watt PSU

With that in mind what would be the best choice for this system?
Thank You for your time.

Unless you have a specific and known need for an 8gb card I'd leave that out as a choice. If there is some game you play with some kind of graphics mod that eats up vram, that's an example of what I mean. Otherwise you won't get anything out of that extra 4gb vram in terms of performance. As far as being 'outdated' that happens when the card no longer serves your purpose. Assuming we are talking 1080p gaming, the 970 isn't going to be outdated any sooner than an 8gb 470.

So I'd get a 4gb 470 or the 970, whichever costs less, if those are your choices.
