Alright guys so I just recently built a new i7 6700k pc and had a gigabyte z170x gaming 5 mobo and corsair 16 bg (2x8gb) 3000mhz ram. Upon complete installation of all my complement I tried first boot with no success I kept getting error code 55 no matter what order I put the sticks in. I went as far as going out and buy new ram and trying that as well. No luck.

Upon further investigation I figured something was wrong with mobo and I'm planning on returning it today and buying a new one. Not sure I want a gigabyte to be honest but would like a nice high quality mobo that can handle the ram right out of the box and obviously be able to OC a bit. Also keep in mind I might get a second EVGA GTX 1070 gpu in the future as well.

Any help/suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks.

only minor gripe is they make a big deal about the rgb leds on it but they are only like 4 leds in the part near the rear io

though just got the phanteks aura adapter hooked up to the board

now i can have a disco if i want to lol

Thank you guys so much for the fast response. Was a bit pissed last night when I had it all together and giga mobo failed on me. Going to pick up this asus tonight.

its been no problem at all for me since i put it in

though never used that little cpu tool before

so if you never seen one before either you should find an instruction sheet in the box for it somewhere

and only other thing i can think of you might need to know is in the bios

the xmp setting for the memory wasnt in an obvious place

forgotten what it was exactly now typically but think it might have been in a setting i would have associated with overclocking rather than memory
