Hello guys,

I recently bought a MSI RX480 Gaming X 8G graphic card and I wanted to try the Vulkan support in DOOM Demo. How was I disappointed when the game crashed upon start. When I start the game, I get this error immediately - http://imgur.com/o3DAWpV .I have the error log here : http://imgur.com/OzdTSOD

I tried all recommended tips like: reinstallation of drivers (using DDU in safe mode), reinstallation of Doom demo, I even tried to reinstall OS (Win10 Pro), but error is still there. However I found out, when I use Crimson drivers 16.12.2, it suddenly works like a charm!

So long story short, Vulkan works in doom demo only with drivers 16.12.2, but it does not work with 17.1.2. and 17.2.1.

Is this normal or should I probably RMA the card? I want to be able to use newest graphic drivers, not to be stuck with old 16.2.2. ones. Or maybe this error is only present in Doom demo.. Can anyone please try a download this demo to try vulkan support with RX480 card (with 17.2.1/17.1.2 drivers?)

Thank you in advance.

PC SPECS:
I5-4570, 8GB 1866 MHz RAM, RX480 8GB, H97 chipset board, Win10.

When did you download the demo? It originally came without Vulkan support. It was added later but performance is still spotty.

In my opinion, the game gets *much* better later on. If you like the demo consider the full version. It can be had for less than $20.

I downloaded the demo three days ago from steam, when I reinstalled the Windows. I would love to buy full game, but first I need to know if Vulkan would work.. When I'm on 16.12.2 I get nice FPS boost when using Vulkan. It looks like there is some sort of problem with it with Crimson 17.x drivers.
