Hello. First of all I'm sorry for my bad english. Like 5-6 years ago I had this pc on which the only thing I was doing was to download music, now when I tried to open it, it was powering on but the screen was black, happened before to my actual pc so I just took the hdd (Cuz I want the music that's on it) and attached it to my brother's pc which is a HP workstation, I plugged in the cabled, powered on the pc and it didn't detect it, I restarted the pc to check the bios, nothing there. then I tried to see if the hdd which has music on it is getting hot or at least warm and nope, so know I want to know two things: Is it dead? And if it is not, what can I do to recover my music?

Hey there.

Make sure that you've connected the drive properly. Try a different port and different cables. Try connecting it externally via an IDE/PATA to USB adapter, to see if the same thing happens again. If the drive is still not recognized at all (by Disk Management, Device Manager or even by the BIOS) it might mean that the HDD has failed. In this case you'd need a professional solution, such as a data recovery company.

Hope that helps.
