Hello,

FYI: I lately bought HP Laptop i7 7700U 8gb he'd 1 tb for video editing but it works slow, takes 16 minutes to process 14 minutes video whereas I expect 5 mins or less.

Fortunately for work purpose now I need a desktop PC and I want to take a precaution this time so I need your guidance

I want to build a new PC for video editing as my current PC is old enough

Gaming: No, I do not play games

Overlocking: No I do not want to overclock ( because I don't want to buy overclocking solution as it's an hassle for me) but I can buy overclocking processor just because of they have higher clock speed or in case if you suggest me I am comfortable with that

Video length: 20 to 30 minutes long but once in a blue moon it can be 40 minutes long
Resolution: 1080p

Software: I use Corel video X9 and I'm planning to start using Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe After Effects

Purpose: I do video editing to make money

Budget is up to $2000

CPU: Someone told me i7 7700K is good but the other person told me i7 6800K is good as it has 6 cores but I'm not sure because after seeing benchmarks sites they say I7 7700 K is performing better. Only if you guys can guide me n a right direction

Ram: 16gb DDR4 2400 ( is it enough for this build?)
Hdd: Western digital black 2tb and SSD 256 Samsung

Motherboard: ??? I don't know
Power supply: ??? I don't know

I sincerely looking for your guidance please suggest me a good configuration which can edit and export video in a fast manner ( For example a 20 minutes video of 1080p can be exported in five minutes or less )

Thank you so much in advance

for 2000 USD. the staple cpu would be the 6800k, its fast has lots of cores and if you feel confident of gaining free performance boost you can overclock it. although if you are not in a rush id suggest waiting for the Ryzen 7 CPUs coming out 2nd of March. they seem promising, but if the Ryzen cpus doesnt live to their expectaions you can try Supahos build or the one im proposing, unlike Supahos though i didnt include OS and an Optical drive.

Corel video X9, Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe After Effects should all have recommended hardware on their websites.
But for video editing, CPU power is king. I would rank CPU by multiplying the number of physical cores by the clock speed, moar is better (assuming all of them have hyperthreading). Get the most powerful CPU you can afford, then select a motherboard and memory to match.

You will want to do a mild oc on the processor most likely since it come stock a good bit slower than the 7700k but to get it up to 4.4/4.5 should be very simple. Should tear anything you put in front of it up very quickly

supahos has specified at very powerful 3D gaming video card. However, most video editing programs do not require a powerful GPU, as almost all the work is done by the CPU. Both corel and adobe specify a very basic GPU. Therefore you might want to consider a 1050 GPU for several hundred dollars less.

Also, the powerful GPU requires a powerful PSU. If you down spec the GPU, you only need a 600W power supply.

@lodders i'm afraid, I'm not satisfied with your answer as it seems that you posted just as a formality or to increase the post count if you read I know somewhat about cores the reason I explained all this I detail so that I get a specific answer about configuration
You might be expert but I'm a newbie so it would be great if you would just be specific and answer my question I'll be grateful
Please read my reviews / benchmark statement

its $78 over the budget but if you visit the link you can chose which vendor you can purchase, I just made it all newegg for a much more uniform approach. but it should be less than 2000 USD if you chose other vendors for some parts.

reason for the GPU is simple its fast and its already overclocked by a bit so you dont need to fiddle with anything, a samsung evo 850 500gb with a WD 2tb combo it will do the job and a great looking chasis, you can chose other case that youd want though.

If you are pricing a system with a CPU near that of the 7700K/6800K then I would likely recommend looking at AMD's Ryzen 7 1700X/1800X chips and a proper CPU Cooler (Neither comes with a Heatsink/Fan) as these chips should give you speeds near that of Intel's 6900K ($1000) this should be the fastest CPU in your price range for the type of work you are wanting to do. Reviews will be published on the 2nd of March.
