Case power button

The cases power button won't turn on the computer. Also, it is getting power as the led lights on the mother board are lighting up.

Find the place it plugs into MB and short the two pins with a screwdriver for a second. That would tell you if button is bad or not.

Will shorting the mobo work while in the case? Also, what if shorting does not work? Does that mean the mobo is faulty?

Yes of course it would work while in the case. But.... all that will prove if button is at fault, if it doesn't power up than you'd have to look at something else, MB or PSU for instance.
