I upgraded my pc with a new Asus mobo recently and bought a Samsung 960 evo M.2 drive to use as my boot drive, but I cant see it on my list of devices in Windows even though its clearly visible in BIOS.

The mobo I bought was a Asus Maximus IX Hero and it does support PCIE M.2 ssds. I mounted the drive in the top M.2 slot listed as M.2 1 in the manual.

I tried switching the M.2 slot from auto to PCIE mode in BIOS but it didnt help any. Its not visible in disk management for formatting either. Tried installing the NVME drivers for it directly from Samsung too and no luck. Any ideas why I cant get it to show up in Windows?
