Hey
Shall i upgrade my 4gb gtx670 to 980/1060/1070 or even possible 1080 or wait for vega release first ?
Ps cpu 4670k and might upgrade it in a year or two but i want a gpu that will last me good :) thnx

It's all the "What ifs?". I'd just accept that whatever you buy there will be a better value option in a year anyway.

Although I cannot say Vega won't bring a GPU equal to a 1070 @ $100-$150 less I really think that is highly unlikely, it would undermine the 480. I'm also sceptical of Vega, AMD have been loosing market share, they have left the high end gpu market wide open and currently anyone with a high end Freesync monitor can't buy a current generation GPU sufficiently powerful to run it properly. That has got to hurt both AMD and their loyal customers. The question that leaves is why is it taking so long to close that gap? This I don't know but it leaves me sceptical.
the waiting game can be frustrating. if you really need it now probably just get one you can't afford right now and be done with it. if it's not urgent then maybe you can wait. if AMD really able to top nvidia 1080ti performance comfortably then i'm sure nvidia will coming out with something better to top it off. at least for nvidia having that single gpu crown is important for them to maintain their high market share vs AMD.

670 to 1070 is already a big jump. If you find a really good deal on it - I would go for it. Vega 10 still has some unknowns to be discovered, and as others have said, wait can suck if you just want to play now. For 1080p the 1070 will last and retain value quite well.

IMO most people that like to waiting i imagine coming from the "best bang for buck" crowd. they wait because they want the best deal. imagine buying 1080 right now then suddenly vega coming out with significantly more performance while cost $100-150 less. for those that really care about "bang for buck" buying 1080 two months prior (for example) will make them regret not waiting for better deal. for those that did not care much about such thing they just be happy to enjoy the performance without the need to wait. true the new hardware might be faster (and cheaper as well) but it does not make their performance any slower in existing games that they played.

some people they just care about the fastest performance. so they will wait. once they know which on stays on top they just go for it regardless the premium cost.

Thank you all for the answers . I am not in such a hurry to buy a gpu like i can wait a month or two but two max :) it would suck though to buy a 1080 then the vega perform better for 100$ less :D i would feel bad for the better performance rather than the 100$ tbh :p

well i was just making an example. for all we know Vega probably did not going to bring anything new in both performance and price vs current GTX1080. from rumor that i heard AMD intend to price vega in 600-700 mark. and so far what they show us is Vega to compete pretty much in the same performance range as 1080. probably a bit faster.

personally AMD should know what kind of performance nvidia can have with their 1080ti. depending on core configuration it can be a little below Titan XP or as fast as Quadro P6000 which is even faster than Titan XP itself. so logically Vega should aiming to beat fully enabled GP102 not simply on par with nvidia GP104. but even knowing all this it doesn't mean AMD will compete directly with nvidia. RX480 is fine proof of that.
