Hello Everyone,

I am planning to buy either a gtx 1050 (non-ti) with new ram OR an AMD A8 7600 APU, ASUS A68HMK motherboard and new ram. Can you help me choose?

My current system specs are :

Intel i3 540
Intel DH55TC motherboard
4GB RAM
450w Zebronics Power supply

Should I buy the GTX 1050 (I know it will be bottlenecked)
or the AMD A8 7600 APU. I really want to play games and I am looking for an upgrade.
If I buy the A8 7600, I'll have to spend around 220$ and If i buy the gtx 1050,
I'll have to spend around 140$. I will not be able to upgrade till at least 1 year as I am on a tight budget.

Thanks in advance,
Tarun

I would say wait for Ryzen. I have a 1060 with the same processor and mobo as yours (cheers) and I have had some bad experiences because of bottlenecks.

I would say wait for Ryzen, but you're going to have a lot of trouble without a GPU. Those processors you mentioned are horrible for gaming imo. And you'll have to wait a bit more since AMD has their lower-end Ryzen processors will be released later in 2017. I say just go for a 1050 for now. 1060 and 1050 have significant difference in performance so you won't have much trouble with a bottleneck.

you dont need to waste the money on a new platform if all you want is a 1050

get a i7 860 or a i5 760 for your current motherboard

plus another 4 gb of ram if you have 64-bit OS

I was looking for the upgrade but then I came to know that they are not the best bang for buck.

they can be had for super cheap on ebay

much better path than the a8 apu route that is for sure

I don't think there was any info released on that. (Someone correct if I am wrong)
The cheapest will be Ryzen 3 Pro 1100 with a price of 119$. Will have 4 cores and 4 threads, CPU speed not announced.
