Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my aging gaming pc i bought some 5 years or more ago. I'm in the UK and I have a budget of around £1000, with a little wiggle room if i sweet talk my wife. I would prefer to buy a pre-built system. I have the peripherals and a ben q monitor that runs at 1920x1080 native but i would want to upgrade this in the future too. As such im looking for something that can handle todays games easily but also can cope in the future playing at higher resolutions.

I currently have an i3 chip & an hd6950 which is now a legacy card so i thought id start from scratch.

I've not been in the market for some time and am simply overwhelmed by the choice. Im hoping some kind hearted person can give me a steer to get the best bang for my buck.

Thanks

While you could definitely save several hundred building this yourself, this isn't a terrible deal for less than 1000:

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

Graphics Card 6GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1060 - DVI, HDMI, 3 x DP - GeForce GTX VR Ready

!1st Hard Disk500GB SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 16MB CACHE

2nd Hard Disk240GB KINGSTON UV400 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (550MB/R, 490MB/W)

DVD/BLU-RAY Drive NOT REQUIRED
Power Supply CORSAIR 450W VS SERIES™ VS-450 POWER SUPPLY

NO OPERATING SYSTEM

I chose no operating system to save you ~£100. Just get a flash drive and download Windows 10 from the Microsoft website onto it and install yourself. It can be used for free, but you'll get a watermark in the corner. If you decide to pay for Windows, try something like Kinguin.net where you can buy a Windows 10 cd-key for less than £20.

If you want to spend some more money, I'd upgrade the system to a GTX 1070, but the 1060 will definitely be sufficient for your 1080p monitor.

Just as a point of reference: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JFcwHN
It would cost you about the same amount of money to build your own, but with this configuration you get a GTX 1070 instead of the 1060, faster RAM and it's mini-ITX meaning the computer itself would be way way smaller. I have that case and it's excellent and super tiny, which I think is pretty cool.

Admirable

I'd change the mobo for a B250( As you got locked CPU ) to save some money and get a Windows key from a respectable source. Better safe than sorry.

Also, this PSU is very poor quality. Couldn't you fit something better up? Maybe a CX450M or a SeaSonic S12 II 520W

I updated my post. That website doesn't seem to offer any of the cheaper motherboards. The Corsair power supply is fine, this system would barely draw 300 watts to begin with. As far as Windows, I've bought a Win 10 cd-key from Kinguin like 3 times and have never had any issues.

I updated my post with a PCPartPicker list because I think OP should just build their own instead of getting ripped off having someone else do the simple task of fitting a few parts together.

You're actually right about those links. Amazon says Sold by "WE CAN'T Dɪsᴘᴀᴛᴄʜ T0 ALL Aᴅᴅʀᴇssᴇs. BEF0RE "Aᴅᴅ Tᴏ Bᴀsᴋᴇᴛ" Cᴏɴᴛᴀᴄᴛ Us: ▒▒info[ᴀᴛ]ppp262.com▒▒" which sounds super sketchy.

the catch is 1) the seller is not a big shot like cyber power or digital storm.
2) the psu is shit. wont trust ur precious i7 n 1060 with a shitty psu like aerocool
3) the parts are new? and wheather they come with their waranty along with the seller's warranty.

that's y its better to build ur own or go for reputed sellers...

I don't think that's the catch. Amazon says sold by "WE CAN'T Dɪsᴘᴀᴛᴄʜ T0 ALL Aᴅᴅʀᴇssᴇs. BEF0RE "Aᴅᴅ Tᴏ Bᴀsᴋᴇᴛ" Cᴏɴᴛᴀᴄᴛ Us: ▒▒info[ᴀᴛ]ppp262.com▒▒"

I've seen sellers like that before, they sell graphics cards and stuff at insane prices, and when you email them, they want you to send them your credit card information over email instead of paying through Amazon.
