Palit GTX 1060 Dual - Fan Disable Feature

I have just purchased a Palit GTX 1060 Dual 6 GB version. I would have thought that all 1060s have the fan auto disable feature when temps are low..

In desktop my temps are only 20 degrees Celsius but the fan continues to be switched on and operate at 25% performance.

Is there something wrong with my VGA or maybe this particular 1060 from Palit does not provide this fan auto disable feature like the other 1060s ? Could not find anything in their website or on the web about this.

Any ideas appreciated.

fabiodrm - thanks - already checked through Palit's Thunder Master Utility. Fan curve lowest point seems to be 25%. No option to switch on/off the fan for when temps are below a certain point.

So I was wondering whether this on/off fan feature should be common to all 1060s or not. Have some manufacturers opted not to have it on their cards and keep fan switched on throughout even at very low temps ?

I had sent a message to Palit asking about this and they told me that the first version of the card had 0db while the second version of the card does not and fan stays switched on at minimum fan curve of 25. The first version of the card was discontinued. Seems I got the second version - at the time I though this was a bummer and missed the 0db feature but after almost a year of using the card I have no complaints and can say that it is quite silent and generally good. I haven't owned other 1060s so cannot compare but by reading on the internet it seems that this card is on the cheaper side and there might be better options but it depends on what you need/want..

When you refer to a pic that shows the GPU had 0DB feature are you referring to the GPU box or Palit's website ? I have none of the sort on my GPU box and I am not seeing any reference to 0db for this card in Palit's website but I may be missing something...

i checked my brand's website (which i think hold the distribution for Palit in this country since most of their GPU are all from palit)

the pic in the website had 0dB feature on it, yet after i purchase it and receive the box, there's no such thing listed on the box, i would really like to have it though, since it'll really help with noise and prolonging fan lifespan

not all cards have 0RPM mode or even (user) controllable fan speed.
controllers cost money, so budget oriented manufacturers are trying to save.
Palit is well known for picking worst possible components in some cards. Keep it in mind for the next buy.

As stated in my previous comment the 0db version is out of production according to the Palit email which I received. If you can, change the card which you got for another brand. This Palit card is a no frills card - but hopefully the other components are decent enough and will hold up. I have been using it for a year now with no issues and it is quite silent on the whole.

Plus think about it - what do you prefer a fan which stays constantly switched on at a low speed even during non-intensive desktop applications and keeps your GPU at a decent temp or a fan which stays silent for longer periods but stays switching on and off when shifting from intensive to non-intensive applications therefore letting the GPU go at higher temps and increasing wear and turn ?

The choice is yours my friend.

i already had the card, so i'm just wondering

about the point u mentioned though, u can always get around it by using a much more forgiving fan curve / using the step curve option from MSI Afterburner in order to make sure that the fan won't really spun unless a specific temperature is reached

it is up to our preference, but honestly? i prefer the 0 db mode, since when i game, i'll definitely won't stop till a certain time, but when i don't then i rarely do any GPU intensive works (only things like youtube and such)

thanks again for the info mate, it's too bad the people here are just too lazy to change that misleading info pic on the website.... (i mean, if the version had already changed, they could've at least changed the pic)
