so i was thinking of getting the kfa2 gtx 1070 as its the cheapest and people say its fine. theres no problem with that. i am just confused because it has an 8pin power slot and also a 6 pin in total 14 pins. are they made so that you can run the 1070 of only 6 or 8 or do i need to use 14 pins to even run it at all

Solution
If its the EXOC model they're factory overclocked a bit higher than most. That's the reason for the 8/6 pin arrangement. Yes, you need to plug in both.

so i have a 6 pin which can pair with a 2 pin and another making 16. 6+6+2+2 on an evga 600W Bronze im guessing thats fine? i dont need to worry about the shapes on the pwoer connectors the 1070 should have the right shapes? because i have enough pins

you need to use both

its just the way they designed it for some reason

the fact its factory overclocked doesnt really justify the additional 6 pin connector

with just an 8 pin my gtx1070 boosts to a solid 2100mhz no problem which is bound to be a good bit higher than their factory overclock

most gtx1070 i have seen stick with just the 8 pin as its a power efficient card
