Migrating OS to SSD

Alright so after a couple grueling years of using nothing but a 1TB hard drive I picked up an SSD to make my life easier. I can't find a clear answer on how I can migrate my OS and nothing but the OS from the HDD onto the SSD, the HDD is around 70% full and the SSD is only 250GB so I cant do a full migration. I've only seen solutions with full reinstalls but no clear answers on only relocating the OS. Help is appreciated :)

There is no option or application to relocate only the OS.

Either reduce the total used space to below 200GB, or do a clean install on the SSD.

1. What is consuming that ~700GB?
2. Do you have another drive available to move things to, even just temporarily?

ok can get creative here, shrink the partition, add a storage partition to move things you want to keep from the 1TB, uninstall games, remove multiple driver downloads, now that you have room, shrink the primary again and expand the new partition, move more things. get the primary partition down to where it would fit on the SSD then you can migrate it to the SSD. disconnect the 1tb make sure the ssd boots. disconnect the ssd, then reconnect the 1tb, if you have everything saved that you want to keep, remove the partition with the OS from the 1tb and expand the storage partition to fill the drive. then reconnect the SSD in socket 0 and 1TB in socket 1, and make sure the boot order in bios shows the ssd before the 1TB

Doesn't even have to be the size of the partition.
The newer migration tools just take the actual used space. 175GB used in a 1TB drive and partition will easily migrate into a 250GB drive.
