I will be putting this headset mount on the back of my case behind the motherboard and HDD area. Wondering if i should be worried about putting it there. Will magnetic case mount damage components?

It depends on how powerful the magnet is you are talking about Jake.
Mechanical hard drives and magnets do not mix well because the dsik platter used in mechanical hard drives are magnetic and that is how they store data on the disk platter of the drive.
A magnet in close proximity to a hard drive can seriously damage the drive platter or any data stored on it due to the magnetic field it produces.
So you should really keep magnets of any kind well away from mechanical based hard drives in any case.
Contrary to what the other poster says it will be fine I would say it was a No No.

Any magnet strong enough to go through the case and affect the hard drive would not be sold for $12. If having a magnet anywhere near a hard drive caused issues, they wouldn't be using them inside the hdd to control the read/write arm.
