EVGA Hybrid Water Cooler on 1080 FE (Revving Fan)

Curious as this is my second EVGA Hybrid AIO addition to my 1080 FE. They both rev randomly...and I'm not sure why.

I don't have the fan that came with it that goes on the radiator as I installed a PWM fan and attached it to my 4pin mobo so I can control it...

This is the Precision XOG graph

Also, I have tried Manual fan control and Auto and nothing seems to fix it.

Hmm...wonder why. I'm trying to find a setting in SpeedFan for my GPU Blower but I can't find anything. All I can find is PWM Fan 1 (sys fan) which is my Exhaust on the radiator for the GPU and the CPU Fan.

man, the blower fan is supposed to keep the VRM and vRAM cool.
Practically, it does not cool the GPU. that's what liquid does.
once your GPU is under load - VRM is heating up significantly - especially on FE card. So it should ramp up.
Hybrid coolers are like sex dolls. they look like liquid cooling, but they are not.
it's probably one of the most useless things you could by for over 100$.

I bought it to keep the noise down since the OG blower is super loud when gaming. So it's worth it and even then I paid $340 new for the GPU.

Secondly, what your saying makes no sense. The blower spikes for like 1-2 seconds randomly. Look at the graph. It will go from a set 2500rpm to 5k out of nowhere and go right back down...only when gaming. This happens when the GPU doesn't even go over 59degrees...I could understand it going up for a long period of time when gaming but spikes make 0 sense.

Unless the vram gets super hot for a second randomly and the blower kicks in and cools it within a second

Unfortunately the blower fan cord is short

Im curious if it's because of my MOBO tbh. It is rather "old"

P8P67 Pro from back in the Sandy Bridge days x.x

I will be upgrading shortly though depending on how Ryzen goes.

kinda see what this guy brought up on the fans and use with the kit? he brings up a good point about the non hybrids cards bios's and there air cooling set fan profiles

http://forums.evga.com/Evga-Gtx-1080-SC-Hybrid-Water-Cooler-m2609925.aspx

I can see his point the hybrid kit is doing this and the air cards bios is confused on what to do ??? notice no reply from any evga tech's .

the vrm fan runs at a set speed and the coolers / radiators fan is dynamic but now you got that air cooler bios on the card ???

I got this guy from a few weeks back with a FE and hybrid kit ? may post there and see how he is coming along or any tips he discovered ??

Admirable
Thats the Motherboards CPU-Op fan. So its controlled by the CPU temps. You probably can go into the ASUS bios or software and change the parameters of CPU_FAN1. But by default it matches the main CPU_FAN connector.

you aint got it yet ??? hmmmm..... how hard is it to hook up fans ? ans for the hybrid I tried to point you in a direction - now look up 900 hybrid users and all the gimmicks they used on there fans ?

my hybrid works as advertised as expected vrm fan speed is adjustable if I want it to [runs full time stock idle/load @1050rpm] and the radiators is dynamic and temp controlled thing is it spins up just a tad faster at full load when the card hits the MAX 45c that's it nice and quite like its not even there or running ?

apparently these pascal hybrid kits just don't work well and due to they don't have the factory hybrid bios to operate as normally as a factory hybrid card does ..

just seems your doing more trying to make the card satisfactory then your just using and enjoying the card as they advertised it should ?????

sorry and good luck

[I like this one shows evga aint got a clue ]

Yea, I think it has to do with the CHA_1 Fan Header. Unfortunately, there is only 1 of them so I am stuck with this rev issue until I upgrade which will be in the next couple months.

EDIT: I'm not sure that would cause the GPU blower to speed up x.x

I told you ??? them cards don't have a HYBRID card bios and the cards have a BIOS used for AIR coolers just like that first link I gave where the guy wanted answers fron evga . [but never got one ,hmmm..... ]

why a factory made hybrid card works as expected and air card using hybrid kits not so much . the fan profiles are in the cards bios and set to be used as that with a AIR cooler on them

I could be wrong, but ????

maybe the hybrid kits are seconds and units that did not make for factory built cards and sold as kits to you ? still if not working satisfactory and not as advertised as evga claims , I'd be hooking up with them on satisfaction

good luck
