This morning i woke up to see my monitor displaying that "press DEL to enter BIOS" screen you get on startup.

I didn't think much of it, and tried restarting. But it just doesn't get past this screen at all. I also can't enter the BIOS. Pressing DEL or F2 doesnt do anything.

I'm really lost here... Some help would be greatly appreciated.

I5-6600k 4.4Ghz OC @ 1.3v
Hyper 212 EVO Cooler
Asus z170-A mobo
Corsair vengeance 16gb ram
750W Gold antec edge power supply
Gtx 970

I had some wonky issues with my Z170-A also where sometimes when i turned on my pc no display would come up. Updating the bios fixed it. Reset the bios and you should be back up and running.

Thanks for the suggestion!

In case anyone wants to know, the BOOT_DEVICE_LED was glowing red. What i did is followed the manual to clear RTC RAM (i short-curcuit the 2 pins for ~10sec). I turned on the system, and it then quickly restarted itself and i was back stuck at that screen again.

I then unplugged everything from my PC and only plugged back in the essentials like keyboard mouse and monitor. It was then able to go into BIOS, and it automatically reset to the most compatible defaults.

Then, i just saved and reset, and the baby powered back on.

As a side question: did my CPU OC cause this? It's been tuned to this setting for about a week before this happened.

Resetting the bios will wipe your overclock, so no.
