Alright i currently have a i5 2400 sitting around and want to know if its faster than the Intel Pentium G3258 , i can choose between those two processors , i will be playing BF4 and BF1.
I have seen a video on the g3258 struggling in BF1 multiplayer. I want to know your thoughts on this . Also the graphics card will be a MSI R9 280X.

Differences:
2400 is a second gen processor while G3258 is 4th gen.
2400 has 4 cores and 4 threads, G3258 has 2 cores and 2 threads.
2400 has 6mb cache while G3258 has only 3mb cache.
Those are the main differences,
I say go with the i5 2400, while it is very old, it's still a very capable processor, and besides older doesn't mean bad. Main reason for G3258 to stutter is it's a dual core. I think i5 2400 will be capable of Battlefield 1 on medium-high if paired with a decent GPU pretty much like the one you have.

i5, yes, more cores is better, the cores on the i5 can run faster, it is alot better, older but alot better and it can do turbo to 3.7, the other just runs at 3.2

the faster the cores, better for many games, and more cores is better for most games this days, the i5, pair it with a good gpu and 8 gbs or ram and enjoy
