So i got a new eathernet cable the other day but when I plug it in you see the orange light but when I go to device manager it's not there it's not in device manager or other device and it's also told me to download a driver but I'm not sure what driver it's talking about

Even if you could find a driver from windows I would not use it. The best drivers are from your motherboard manufacture. It is not common for these things to get messed up if they worked before. Most time it happens when you upgrade the OS.......then again win10 does lots of bad things without permission.

Getting a new cable, doesn't change your hardware configuration. That is why I asked about a card. Even if your motherboard ethernet controller is never plugged in, it still requires a driver. The CD from your motherboard should contain all the drivers you need. Otherwise you would have to go to a working computer and download the drivers from the manufacturer's website.
