I decided to build my first PC from scratch. I got all of my parts used. When I tried to boot the PC the screen was black and nothing happened. I couldn't get to bios I couldn't do anything. When I removed my graphics card (GTX 560 Ti) everything worked fine, I could get to the bios and I even installed windows. System runs without any problem, but when I try to put my GTX 560 Ti in it's dead, the fans are spining but that's it . The guy I bought it from said he put it out of the working PC and he's selling it because he bought an upgrade. What could be the cause of this problem? Could it be PSU?

My system:
Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3 motherboard
Intel Pentium G3250
GTX 560 Ti
8GB DDR3 RAM
Corsair VS550 PSU

Solution

Passive adapter will be fine. GTX 560ti usually come with DVI-I output.
If precise GTX 560 ti model name was provided, we could make sure of it.

are you using an adapter to run your monitor?

all pcie cables plugged in properly on the card?

When you insert discrete gpu, integrated gpu gets turned off automatically (vga output on motherboard is integrated gpu).

If you can't connect your monitor to gtx 560ti, then there is no point of using it.

Get DVI-I to D-SUB adapter and connect your monitor to GTX 560ti.

Thanks, I'll let you all know what happens when I connect my GPU to the monitor. I only want to invest in proper monitor when I'm sure everything works.
