XFX RX 480 Idle Temps

I recently upgrade my graphics card to the XFX RX 480 4gb and am having some minor issues with managing temps. Under load, the temps are great and will stay at their targeted 70c. However, when idling the card will stay at 55c which seems hot and worries me about shortening the lifespan of the card.

I have gone into Wattman and can change the target temperature to something more desirable (40-45c). However, after doing this the idle temps will be great but under load the card will try to reach the new target temp of 40-45c, and crank the fans up to compensate.

Is there anyway to change only idle temps in Wattman? Or set different profiles that I can change with a keybind? I'd rather not set gaming profiles for every single game I play. Thanks in advance for any replies!

I have an Asus rog 480 and it idles around 50c. This is not out of the normal, especially considering the fans turn off. It will not hurt the lifespan of the card and they are designed to run this way. If you are really considered perhaps increase the airflow in your case so your gpu gets more passive cooling.

I've read similar posts that claim the rx 480 is designed to idle hotter than usual. Most users post idle temps of 45-50c though so mine seems hot even compared to those. My card will constantly hit the 60c limit when idling and then the fans will turn on and bring the temps back down to 55c.

As long as the card is designed to run this hot I guess I don't have a problem with it. Just seems odd to me compared to all of the other cards I've ever owned.
