Can I play a game without having enough video RAM?

So I have all the system requirements needed but the dedicated video ram. I need 1GB but I only have 182MB, Is Vram that important? Can I run it?

It'll run at 1024x768 and low settings that will offer somewhat playable fps, but likely wont be a good experience.
