PC is in the sop getting everything installed. I asked them to OC it.

Right now, anything above 4.5 seems to give trouble. Considering that's its turbo boost, I feel robbed. I know, I know, it's all luck. But still, man. Told me at around 4.6 he turned voltage to 1.295 and the temps were crazy.

(It was a long conversation so bare with me)

From what I remember he said after stress tests completed, the PC would BSOD. Is there anything I can do? Sorry if I sound whiny... just disappointed.

I have a Noctua NH-D15. I'll bring up the bad mount next call. I don't remember what speed it was at - possibly 4.6-4.7 - but he mentioned it was idling at around 60-70.

I thought that too. What are your thoughts on this? Did I just get jipped?

I would insist/demand a remount of the cooler unless you are able to do yourself. No real reason any CPU should idle that high. If these temps are accurate for idle, under load will be sky high, which could explain OC issue.

Another example is my own 5820k when testing OC years back. I tested at 4.4Ghz with Noctua NH-U14S(much smaller cooler than yours). My idle temps were in 30s, but OC testing was low 90s(very limited test at that temp)Also, my CPU is 140W TDP vs your 91W TDP.

Yeah, I'll ask him. I wish I had all of your guys' knowledge on this stuff...

Did they mention temps at stock speeds with no OC? I'd just about put money on a bad mount before CPU being that bad. Also possible another voltage on auto somewhere is way to high in motherboard settings. Loadline Calibration for example could be one. Depends on board.

Nope, didn't mention. I didn't ask, but yeah, I'll mention this to him. Thanks for the help, dude. I appreciate it.
