I bought a ASUS GTX 1080 strix and when i was playing a game i felt the heat from my case and i looked at the hardware monitor and my GPU was at 80 degrees Celsius. I was forced to get the GPU tweak 2 utility but its just so annoying to always have to turn it on every time i start my PC. Should i take it back and get a new one or see if i can get a different brand?

Solution
Use MSI afterburner for your card, GPU tweak is broken.

If you can acquire AI Suite and use the TPU you can adjust the cards fan curve manually, and the app starts in its own.

Theres no other way because the default fan curve sucks. 40c+ and it's a shallow curve (barely any fan speed for quite a high temp)

No, if you leave the GPU to set it's own temp via the fan settings it will get quite high. My EVGA GTX1080 sometimes gets to 86C and when I check afterburner it's generally running around 70C as it takes a while for the GPU to speed up the fan to cool it. If I'm playing a high GPU game such as GTAV I set my fan to 40% manually and my temp doesn't get above 65C.
