The connection of the power lead input seems to be very poor. When the pc is on, it will suddenly turn off if i just tap the lead with my foot and it is extremely frustrating. Once the power lead is in it is fine but if it is moved even slightly the pc loses power for a second but then switches back on again almost instantly. Its probably an issue with the power socket on the pc but i don't know what has caused it or how to fix it. It started after I'd dusted the pc and may have something to do with that.

It's either the cable or the power supply. The power cables are cheap enough so you can try replacing that first and see how it works out.
Option B is to get it in a position where the connection is solid and duct tape it in place. I've had to do that with one of my servers and it's held up alright.
