I was wondering if anyone could help me with some of the connections on a motherboard. (Power LED, USB 1-2, HDD LED) I don't know how to tell which prongs are positive and negative. I looked in the manual and online on MSI's site and found nothing. There are labels on the connectors but not the prongs. Also I need help with the USB 1-2 connections. Which prongs do I put the connectors on. There are 6 extra prongs. Lastly the audio prongs. Is the speaker/audio connector the right one and,the prongs go like this> : : : . : (Periods represent prongs)

The speaker mic connector is . . . .

If anyone could help me that would be highly appreciated!

Thanks: Nathan

Unless you bend the pins, nothing will be damaged. If the pins become bent, replacing the power supply won't do you any good anyway. I don't get why you'd need a new power supply after messing up a USB connector... It just doesn't work that way.

Analogy: If I...
USB headers have the same number of pins as the number of holes on the connector. Sounds like you're trying to plug USB 2.0 into USB 3.0.

Switches don't care which way they're plugged in. All they do is short the two pins when pressed. LED's will not be damaged if you plug them in backwards, they simply won't light up unless they're plugged in correctly.

Does it mess it up if I plug in 2.0 to 3.0 If it does is there a way to fix/change without a new power supply?

I don't believe that the two motherboard connectors are the same.

Analogy: If I mess up the steering in my car, I could replace the engine, but that's not gonna solve the problem. If steering is the issue, I replace whatever part of it is causing the problem.

If pins on the board are bent, you straighten them. The exception to this is the pins in the CPU socket because those pins are very fragile and can break from a slight touch in the wrong direction.

Here's a simpler example: https://www.google.com/search?q=usb+2+header+vs+usb+3+header&biw=1920&bih=986&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj6xNXHu6zSAhXLOSYKHWoqDroQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=uqhusnybIAyJjM:

Well, as long as you're not using fire hazards (I mean power adapters), you should be okay.

Just so you know, if a connector doesn't want to fit, you're probably doing it wrong. Never try to force them to fit. This could result in pin and/or female connector damage.

Don't buy these things:
1) PCIe power adapters.
2) CPU power adapters.
3) Other fire hazards.
