Should I return this PC for this one?

I purchased this pc last night, as an impulse buy, but I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up.
I like MMOs and such, and the cpu is very weak/old, but it's the best one the motherboard will support, so upgrading is not an option.
I don't plan on playing too many tough games.
I originally went into the Best Buy to purchase:

Should I go back and return the desktop for this laptop? I've never had a laptop before and I kind of want the mobility of playing games like League of Legends or Runescape from bed, as well as actually being in the living room, not attached to a desktop, to spend time with my daughter and wife.

I just feel like the desktop is slow, compared to my old i5 4690k even with the gpu being stronger than my old GTX 960 2gb.
It does run games like Black Desert online at very high settings with around 45 - 55 fps and Wildlands ran at around 50+ settings while nearly maxed out.

Which one of these two would be a better buy?

My apartment complex has really bad roaches, and they hardly spray when they say they will.
My daughter blew out the PSU by pressing the on/off button numerous times.
Upon opening the desktop, I noticed a brown sticky substance all over the motherboard..

Which is another benefit to the laptop, I'd say, the ability to keep it up and away from my daughter and the bugs.. Til I move in the Summer time, when my lease is up.
