Best 5 Gbps Ethernet Adapter

Solution
I haven't seen any host adapters yet. There are some switches and WIFI access points that have the 2.5/5Gbit interfaces but nothing for desktops yet. It wouldn't do you any good unless ALL the network equipment supports it. It is unlikely that your modem supports 5Gbit.

Anything less than 10g is likely a dead end product. It will soon be the 10g ports cost the same as 1g ports so everyone puts them in machines. This is similar to what happened with 1g. Motherboards for many years have had 1g ports even though it took many years before 1g ports were standard in routers. You can still easily find routers with 10/100 lan ports but you likely will not find new pc that does not have 1g ports.

There are already a few consumer motherboards that have 10g ports in them and as the price continues to drop it will be a way for motherboard manufacture to try make their boards seem better.

Still it provides little benefit to exceed 1g.....especially for internet use. You would need a very specialized application you had to really need more than 1g. It does not take long for the network connection to not be the bottleneck. You soon find bottlenecks in things like your disk subsystems.
