I've been troubleshooting this for a good 4 hours now and have gotten nowhere. I have a purchased a new Brother J480dw printer and connected it to the WLAN with ease through the console on the front of the printer. I then booted up my Desktop PC (Window 7 64-bit) and found that it could not find the printer at all via the Network.

I couldn't install the software/drivers via the disk, as my PCs disk drive is broken, so I download the driver and software package from the internet. It could not locate the printer during the installation through the network. My laptop, on the WLAN, can see the device through the network, but is having the same issue (I really don't want to use my laptop though as it is an old, clunky, piece of junk waiting to die tbh).

Things I have attempted that have failed:
1.) Add Printer via Windows Network and Devices and Printers and manually assign the printers ip address.
2.) Use a USB B cable which the printer requires to connect it directly to the PC, still it didn't recognize it.
3.) Tried using the laptop and it didn't work either.

I'm at a loss. Right now I have a printer connected to my router that is a giant paperweight and nothing more. I could really use some help, and will be willing to provide any further information needed.

Yes. My Printer has successfully connected to the wireless router. My desktop is connected to the router via Ethernet cable. I can ping the IP Address the printer gives off (192.168.0.7) just fine. However, if I check under Devices and Printers, nothing is listed for the Brother printer. When I run the software, it cannot detect it. I have installed the driver software from the Brother website to no avail. I tried disabling Windows Firewall and trying again just to see if that might be related, but it hasn't changed anything.

I can't do that. My Desktop does not have wireless capability. I connected the printer to the SSID of the router with no issue.

I suppose I may just have to use it connected through a USB cable, as that did work. It's kind of annoying though, as I wanted the printer situated in another room and for my laptops to also be able to print from it. The only way I got it to work with the USB cable was by deactivating the wifi connection on the printer itself.

It's frustrating to say the least.
