Connect desktop internal hard disk to laptop as external

Hi. Is it possible to connect an internal harddisk used in my desktops's cpu to my laptop externaly? As a portable one? If yes. Can u please tell me how? URGENT
 
Solution
You may choose a simpler adapter and external PSU to connect your disk to USB. Some people have reported unreliability and even system damage through the use of these though. I use a USB <-> SATA adapter device with a female USB A cable termination, and an ATX psu to power the disk.

You may also choose to use an enclosure for 3.5 disks with built-in SATA/USB interface and usually a 12V PSU with a standard plug connector (not a computer type, molex or SATA). Thus any 12V psu is likely to suffice provided it has sufficient current capacity.

It WILL need a wall connected power source. A 3.5" desktop HDD can't be run from USB power alone.
There are many USB docks that will do this.
