How to get additional power to GPU

Hello there all!

I have a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 460 WINDFORCE 4GB graphics card, and my motherboard won't recognize it. I'm reasonably sure it's because it isn't getting enough power. It doesn't have any extra PCIe power connector, so it gets all of its power from the slot, and I think the board isn't configured to handle that by default. I bought a cheap Nvidia 710 or something today, and it works just fine. I was wondering how I go about resolving this? Do I have to do something from the bios, or do I have to install drivers, or install some power management program once I get the system up and running? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I assumed that... That doesn't mean it was correct to begin with. It can very well be the issue. I'm not sure why you are making the assumption without trying it. It may not work, but that's why it's troubleshooting, not troublefixedonthefirsttry. If your not willing to try the steps that a professional gives you, hey, it's not my broken computer.

If the board you have, only has a four pin Eps or 12v E-atx power connector on the motherboard it is likely due to that why the RX 460 card is not working right in the Pci-e card slot of the motherboard you have.

Just in case though if the RX 460 card does not require and power directly from the Psu in your system.
Make sure the four pin Eps or 12 E-atx power block from the Psu is connected to the motherboard.

If it is not then it will be the cause as to why the RX 460 card is not working in the Pci-e slot of your motherboard or not detected as being present in the Pci-e slot of the motherboard when you first power your system on.

As the other poster said try setting in the bios the hardware detection of devices to mixed detection Legacy / Uefi hardware devices.
Depending on how old the motherboard is in years the option may exist or may not.

It can be found in the bios settings of the motherboard by selecting advanced bios mode under the listing of CSM Compatibility Support Mode. Raswanson.

I checked the power connectors, they're all in, so that isn't the issue. I changed the bios settings to legacy only and to automatic detection, neither of which worked :/

I have now tried each slot with both cards, the 710 works in all of them and the RX 460 doesn't output in any of them, and furthermore confirmed in my motherboard manual that I was using the preferred slot :(
