OCing My Rig As A Noob

Hello, all!

I've been on several forums in the past, asking advice on this, even tried one time, but after seeing a similar thread and how helpful this community was, I was encouraged to try once more.

To start, this is my current rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/RingoVarr/saved/HgXXsY

My questions are multifaceted so I'll start from the beginning. Maybe a year ago or less, I had an online friend try to walk me through OCing my FX8370. We never had it sit right, but this friend never gave as much detailed info as this community seems. I had given up on OCing it, but if anybody here would help, I'd try again. That is, of course of my rig is even capable of it. Based on the list posted, is it?

Secondly, given my rig's components, how OC-able (is that a word?) is my GPU (R9 280X Saphire Dual-X)? Would OCing it be worth it? If so, would anybody be willing to help me with that as well?

I understand this is a lot, but any info would be so appreciated.

You CPU will already turbo boost to 4.3GHZ when needed and run stock at 4.0ghz to begin. Don't bother messing with it, and oc'ing and stuff. You can do more harm than good for next to zero gain. Most games are GPU driven. Overclocking a AMD chip a few extra MHZ will get you maybe an extra FPS or 2, but nothing like 20 more FPS or something like that. Play your games, enjoy your PC instead of going crazy oc'ing. lol.

My advice anyways. I played the games, got it to 4.86ghz after days? (weeks?) more?? and for nothing really except a lot of extra power drawn, and extra heat. I have water cooling and 4.86, even 4.5 wasn't really sustainable for prime95 testing. Your GPU overclocked will most likely result in more FPS gain if you...

I will heed your advice. I have adequate cooling, could you help me OC my GPU?
