Hello,

I am doing a fresh Windows 10 install. The OS installed fine, but when it tries to install the driver for my Nvidia Geforce GT240, I get a BSOD with the MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error, and now Windows 10 won't boot. It is now freezing on the windows logo at startup. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P.
I was using this video card without problems previously with win 7. Any ideas to solve the problem?

With that very Win10-64 driver (it's only three months old), a Geforce 210 never wakes up from Hybrid Sleep but otherwise has no problems. A Geforce 260 Core 216 Hybrid Sleeps and wakes up fine, but then invariably BSODs about a minute later. It also has no problem otherwise (I use regular Sleep or Hibernate only for both).

Like your GT240, both those cards are Tesla models but behave differently. I'm starting to think they don't even bother to test these drivers any more and WHQL certification requires only payment to Microsoft. And it's really hard to keep Win10 from updating drivers to the latest ones, even if they don't work

I noticed that in Fermi and Kepler models (up to 740), which have a new driver from this month, that Hybrid Sleep is removed from Windows' Power Control Panel so that's how they "fixed" it.

I managed to make my Nvidia Geforce GT240 work in Win10.
I have installed the Win7 64 bits driver (which was on the CD that came with the card) and it worked on Win10!
Now I am trying to prevent windows update to download the "win10" driver and corrupt the OS again by using the wushowhide tool to hide it and a police on gpedit.msc preventing any instalation of drivers on the GPU hardware ID and GUID class. Anyone knows a better way to block Win 10 to overwrite that win7 driver?
