Hi, i currently have 8GB DDR3, whilst im gaming i reach around ~90% of my RAM,
and i notice my games are lagging alot. Though im not sure if its because my CPU or GPU

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
CPU: Intel CORE i7 2600K

Is upgrading RAM the solution? if so, what ram should i get?

Adding more or upgrading your computers memory should not increase FPS to anything highly noticeable. Most games are GPU dependent.

Update:
Yeah, I didn't think to mention the different channel configurations that are available. I was going by from what I have experienced in the past and was assuming you were using dual channel anyways.

And as for upgrading you could get an entirely new kit, or add to your current one. If you have 1x8GB then another 1x8GB will give you 16GB and therefore will release some strain on your single module.

If you have 2x4GB then you could swap that out for 2x8GB. As you haven't provided any information on the motherboard your system is using it makes it a bit tricky to tell exactly what you can...

For adding RAM to an existing setup it's best to chose the same part number as the module that is already installed.

Wrong. Ram can have an impact on performance.

Check out the picture below and note the fps differences between single and dual channel.

If you're having high memory use, just get more memory. Especially if you only have one stick.

High RAM usage can cause stutters and FPS drops, though depending on what you're playing and at what resolution your framerate dips may be due to the GTX 1060 3GB's VRAM limitations. You might want to try using MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU temps, usage and VRAM usage. That would help determine what is causing your framerate drops.
