Hi!

I'm looking for some help regarding a new pc build. Right now, and for quite a few years, I've been using a 2500k for my setup. Time for retirement!

The computer is being used mostly for music production (Cubase, Ableton, Kontakt with RAM heavy libraries and some softsynths) and some gaming at a resolution of 1920x1080. While I did overclocked my 2500k, I’m not planning to do so in the future. I just don’t have the taste for it.

What I need :
- A system that will last me a few years. A gpu upgrade is not a problem though;
- 32 gig of RAM for Kontakt. 16 just doesn’t cut it anymore;
- I do max out my 2500k at the moment. While probably obvious, I do need more power. Softsynths are getting more power hungry;
- I have a Corsair AX860 PSU and a Fractal Design Define R5 case that can be reused along 2 SSDs and a HDD. No need for that;
- Noise is a preoccupation for me. I doesn’t need to be dead silence but fan noise that bleeds trough a mic is not ideal.

And that’s it. Money is not really an obstacle though I would like it to be under the 1 500$ CAD if possible.

Any build to suggest? I7 7700? If so, with which motherboard?

Thanks for the help!

I would recommend you to wait for 10-15days to get exact benchmarks and then decide if AMD Ryzen is good or if Intel is a better path to take.

There will be cheaper CPU Cooler available by then.
