Hello all,

I am not that good with computers so do excuse me if I fail to add some important information. Basically I have been having an issue with my Desktop ever since I built it, this issue relates to the frame-rate.

I kept getting freezing issues when running Tom Clancy's Wildlands in High where it would freeze - drop to 2fps for around 2-3 seconds and then go back up to 50-60fps - this would be a reoccurring issue. I've dropped it down to Low Quality and even on that it does the same I can go from 80-90fps and then all of a sudden when driving or shooting it will drop to 2fps for a small amount of time.

I get this issue on quite a few other games and it always seems to happen when I begin moving/driving. I have seen videos in which people with the same processor and a gtx970 have been getting 30-40fps on Very High, where as I struggle to keep a steady frame rate.

Specs:

CPU Intel Core Skylake Processor i5-6500/3.2 GHz Processor CPU

GPU GTX970 G1 Gaming Edition (4095MB)

Motherboard Gigabyte H110M - S2H

RAM HyperX FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 DIMM Memory Kit (Skylake Compatible)

OS: Windows 10

Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

Regards,
Ben

Hello ben,

its difficult to tell exactly but it sounds like you could be suffering from stuttering.

Unfortunately if this is the case, its often hard to identify but relates to memory.
Stuttering can be the cause of failing memory (RAM) which causes the game to almost freeze a few milliseconds seeing causing your fps to drop then rebuild to its original state. This doesn't always mean failing ram, it can also relate to an actual lack of it - if you manage to use a large amount of your ram, the game will actually stutter and drop in frames because of this. Wildlands for example recommends 8GB but of course as your PC has exactly that, if you were to be running a browser, skype or discord in the background the game isn't going to have...

I hope this helps
